Sailing School
A week spent on a chartered vessel can have an additional value if you decide to join our Sailing School. The programme is devised for those clients whose lack of confidence holds them back from sailing on their own to enjoy the summer holiday. Namely, our experience from working on chartered vessels reveals that a large number of clients with a valid licence still want an experienced skipper aboard “just in case “, because they lack confidence in their knowledge. On the other hand, there are some of them who have been spending time aboard but have not had opportunities to sail on their own; they are attracted to the navigational skills but have not had time so far to take it seriously. That is why we have developed a programme in which the summer leisure time and the training are successfully combined.
The day is divided in two parts – the early and late morning spent in typical summer activities, like sunbathing, swimming, snorkelling and the other part – the afternoon, when trying to catch up with the breeze and playing with it, trimming the sails and manoeuvring with and against the wind.
The evening is the time for recapitulation of the covered material and the ongoing carefree enjoyment.
Training for Day Skipper license exam
(Equivalent to Croatian B Category Vessel license)
The preparation of the candidates for the examination of the B category vessel operator includes theoretical chapters from the seafaring, navigation, maritime signalling, avoiding collision at sea, motoring, first aid, maritime safety and SAR, the on-board compulsory equipment, and the meteorological and radio services.
The training can be organised in the classroom ashore or aboard the vessel taking place while sailing. The examination is taking place at the Ministry of Sea, Traffic and Infrastructure or Harbour Master`s office and their outlets at sea.
Although the present day law in force does not require the practical training aboard the vessel, this programme is valuable for its practical exercises that simulate the situations the candidates would come across in real life and would eventually become their everyday routine.
The practical part of the training deals with the procedures for the safe departing from the port starting with route planning, safe in-port manoeuvring, mooring, docking, anchorage, safe approach to the port and man overboard procedures (MOB).
The training mostly takes place on the sailing boat of the partner charter agency and while the accommodation is organized on the very same vessel.
Skipper Training
This programme is suitable for those candidates that have already obtained their licence but lack the experience in steering the vessel. Skipper training is organised on board the sailing boat or a motor boat in the partnership with the partner charter agency.
The programme takes a week to accomplish during which time the candidates are focused on practical mastering of all aspects of navigation – from the preparation of the vessel for the journey, provisioning and stocking, crew and watch guard scheduling, skills for safe port departing or inward coming, sailing techniques, night navigation, radio communication, MOB and SAR.
Return to the helm
In the course of our professional engagement in navigation, we have often come across the seamen amateurs who do not have any opportunities to sail on their own in spite of having valid navigation permits. The others have even purchased a boat. However, in both cases there is a lack of “steering routine”, those little manoeuvring secrets that make a boatman complete – a true yachtsman.
In this programme we offer practicing a range of practical manoeuvring skills which would remind them of the already acquired knowledge. In addition, we will teach them some tricks how to safely steer the vessel in narrow marinas or skilfully sail into or depart the port. In doing so, their confidence will be enhanced. The programme can be carried out on the sailing boats of the partner charter agency or catamarans that have recently become very popular.
We also offer a programme where the practice will take place both on a sailing boat and catamaran combined.
