Team Building – Flotilla – Regatta

Our experience in nautical tourism indicates that sailing boats are not intended only for a carefree summer holiday but could serve a number of other purposes especially in the world of business.

Team Building aboard a vessel is a well proven method of establishing relationships among employees, between the higher and lower ranking managements. Mix and mingle outside the usual spaces and under a watchful eye of a skipper can be a good time to discover some new potentials within the team.

We witnessed a number of co-operations and partnerships being established between the firms after spending some time together aboard a vessel.

Let us not forget the competitive spirit!

We can organize competitions among different departments of the firm or even between the teams of different firms following a period of time spent together on board a vessel.

Our team, under the leadership of Janko, the most experienced skipper among them, is ready to organize the events like team building (on one or more vessels), flotilla sailing, sailboats racing or a regatta.

In the process of Team Building the clients will be instructed on the basics in sailing and will be assigned individual responsibilities on deck under a watchful eye of the skipper so that everything runs smoothly .At the end of the day a big dinner party will be organized and the participants exchange their experiences.

In Flotilla Sailing each crew independently cover the distance from point A to point B with a leading skipper, a technician, a doctor and a hostess, all taking care that everything runs to the expectations.

Before setting sail, the lead skipper gives a briefing on the itinerary, suggests the time for lunch/swim break, explains the particulars of the route, the weather conditions (forecast), confirms the destination, assists each crew how to set sail or sail in the harbour.

A technician would remedy any faults or prevent one from happening; a doctor would assist in case of an accident or sickness; a hostess is in charge of the administration, provisions, communication, queries and all other invisible duties that we could not do without.

Last but not least, a few pieces of information about regattas- a competition under sails:

We are aware that regattas are considered the events for only a selected group as it requires a sound knowledge and a skilful crew in order to compete the opponents. However, the matter of fact is that so many amateur and friendly regattas are organized in the Adriatic with the aim to experience companionship in the first place, rather than achieving the sporting trophies.

We are able to organize regattas because Janko is a HJS certified sailing judge. It means we have good knowledge and abilities to set up a regatta committee board, set the start line and the racecourse, follow the regatta, set the finish line and determine the limited time to finish, act in case of a protest and declare the winners; all in accordance with the International Sailing Rules and within the jurisdiction of HJS and local Harbourmaster Offices.
